How the INMETRO process works?
1.
Apply
certification process :
CERTIQEEP requests the certification process to a Product Certification Body (OCP) which is accredited by INMETRO. The certification procedure is applied in the name of a legal representative in Brazil (CERTIQEEP)
2.
Analysis :
Technical analysis of technical and administrative documentation.
3.
Factory inspection and assessment :
Factory inspection and assessment to ensure compliance of the manufacturer’s production process.
4.
Customer complaint system audit :
Customer complaint system audit in Brazil, at CERTIQEEP’s facilities.
Product safety testing performed by an independent test laboratory accredited by INMETRO. The test laboratory selection varies according to the product (either in Brazil or abroad)
5.
Product safety testing :
With the approval of audits and tests, the Certification Body issue a certificate as well as the authorization for the use of INMETRO’s Compliance Identification Seal. The certificate is issued in the name of a legal representative in Brazil, in case of the foreign manufacturers.
6.
Issue a certificate and the authorization:
Register application of the products in the register system of INMETRO (Orquestra), then INMETRO will issue a REGISTER NUMBER for each family of product, depending on the product scope
Observation: Usually, it takes about 3 to 6 months to get the certificate and the INMETRO Register number, if the documentation is ready and the plant audit scheduling by an auditor and test of the product is arranged within 1 or 2 months.
7.
Register application of the products :
Regular certification maintenance is conducted annually – including tests and factory surveillance. Then in every 3 to 6 years term, depending on the product, there is a re-certification process which is the same as the initial certification process.
8.
Maintenance and update:
